Pottery is slow magic.

Little Leaf Pottery is my small pottery studio in York, England. Originally from the very mountainous Grisons in Switzerland, I moved to the UK - for love, of course - in 2009. Hubby and I have been blessed with three little angels.

I’m inspired by the mountains I grew up in. The mountains, despite their rough appearance and the tough climate, provide enough for beautiful plants and wildlife to prosper. It’s a humble way of living.

My pottery journey started at my kitchen table in early January 2020, with 2 kg of test clay, an old chopping board, an old loyalty card, a blunt kitchen knife and a lot of enthusiasm. It’s been a steep learning curve and still is.

Pottery is slow magic, because it takes time to wedge the clay, to shape it (be that on the wheel or pinching or coiling or slab building), to fire it, to decorate it. It requires you to let go of control and to accept that there are things you cannot influence - like what happens in the kiln. It’s humbling and grounding.

I really enjoy making my pots and I hope they bring joy into your home too. Each piece is unique as it’s handmade. By me. For you. To love.

The name of the studio is in memory of our little baby that we never got to meet and since then has been sending heart shaped leaves as little hellos.
